BENJAMIN “DURTY” DIXON
Head Coach | Founder | Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt | MMA Instructor
Mushin Martial Arts | Fight Club Jiu-Jitsu Affiliate
Ben “Durty” Dixon is the head coach and co-owner of Mushin Martial Arts, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under legendary professor Marcio Bittencourt. With a lifetime dedicated to combat sports, Ben has built a reputation as a pressure-driven grappler, experienced competitor, and respected leader in both jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts.
An accomplished competitor, Ben is an IBJJF gold medalist at blue belt and was ranked #1 globally in Grappling Industries at purple belt. With well over 100 tournament matches and experience in professional-level PPV super fights, his time on the mats and under the lights has forged a style rooted in pressure, control, and the ability to perform when it matters most.
Known throughout the region as “Durty,” his approach to jiu-jitsu is simple and effective—eliminate the unnecessary, apply constant pressure, and finish. This philosophy has become the foundation of the Mushin system and the athletes developed within it.
As the MMA instructor at Mushin Martial Arts, Ben brings a background that traces back to the early days of mixed martial arts—training and evolving before the sport was even legalized in New York. This experience gives him a unique, real-world perspective on fighting that goes beyond sport and into application.
Beyond competition and coaching, Ben is a builder of culture and community. From youth development and anti-bullying initiatives to high-level competition training, his mission is to develop stronger athletes, stronger minds, and a stronger community.
A dedicated family man and driven entrepreneur, Ben continues to push Mushin Martial Arts forward as both a gym and a movement.
He doesn’t just teach jiu-jitsu.
He builds pressure-tested athletes.
No politics. No shortcuts. Just work.
