 HEATHER KNAPP

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt | Training Since 2012
Women’s Self-Defense Advocate | Kids Coach | Competition Coach
Coach Heather Knapp is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under legendary professor Marcio Bittencourt and proudly represents the Fight Club Jiu-Jitsu affiliation. With over a decade of dedication to the art, she has become a cornerstone of the Mushin Martial Arts community—known for her leadership, resilience, and unwavering commitment to growth.
She is recognized as the first female Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt in both Delaware County and Otsego County, and widely regarded as one of—if not the first—female black belts in the Catskill region, marking a historic milestone for women in martial arts within the area.
Training since 2012, Heather brings a powerful blend of technical precision, real-world application, and deeply intentional coaching. Her approach is centered on building confidence, sharpening awareness, and developing students who are not only skilled—but capable, composed, and resilient.
As a competition coach, she guides athletes through strategy, preparation, and mindset, helping them perform at their highest level. As a kids coach, she creates a structured and supportive environment where young students learn discipline, respect, and self-belief—skills that extend far beyond the mats.
Heather is also a passionate advocate for women’s self-defense, empowering women of all ages with practical, effective tools to protect themselves while building confidence and independence. Her classes reflect a balance of compassion and intensity, making her an impactful leader for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
Her mission is simple:
To build stronger athletes, stronger minds, and a stronger community—one roll at a time.
